Math Homework
Math Part 1: The math homework contains some information that we have covered in class, but it also contains some problems that we have not (yet) covered in class. The purpose is to expose students to new problems. To access it, click on the file above.
Math Part 2: Your child received a set of math fact cards. The fact cards will change frequently, and each child will be on a different level of math facts. Please take a few minutes each night to practice these cards with your child. They will be tested every Friday. This week, we will not have a fact fluency test since it is a shorter week. Click on the flashcard icon to access the flashcards. |
Reading Homework
Reading Part One: Read the fluency passage each night. The links are included above.
Parents, the directions are included below: 1. Set a timer for one minute, and have your child read as much as possible. 2. After the minute is up, mark the place where he/she stops and count the total number of words read. (The number beside each lines tells you how many words up until that point. For instance, if he stops at line three. Then, he will have read 20 words for this week's passage.) Record that number in the chart at the bottom. 3. Record the number of errors that he made while reading the passage and the total number of words correct in the chart. Then, sign or initial at the bottom of each day. 4. Finish reading the passage. 5. The chart only goes to Thursday, please help your child complete the questions and the activity on the back of the paper for Friday. (It can be done earlier if preferred.) Words Per Minute Goals: Beginning: 59+ Middle: 81+ End: 94+ Reading Part Two: Please read with your child for fifteen minutes each night and complete the reading log. (It is attached below.) When your child has read either fifteen chapters in a chapter book or fifteen separate picture books, he/she will receive a prize. |
Take Home FolderEvery child has a take home folder. The folder has two pockets. The items in the "Return to School" pocket need to be completed or signed and returned to school. The items in the "Leave at Home" pocket are usually notes or completed student work. Please be sure to read all notes that are sent home.
Each take home folder also has a calendar. The students will record their behavior (according to the clip chart) on the calendar each day. Please initial your child's folder each night. Behavior Clip Chart Colors: Green Check Mark=Ready to Learn (Great Behavior!) Yellow: Warning Blue: Make Better Choices Orange: Think About It Dark Green: Teacher's Choice Red: Parent Contact The students are also awarded points on Class Dojo for good behavior. They receive prizes for earning different amounts of points. (Example:15 points=1 piece of gum) For more information about my behavior management system, please read the note that is attached below.
